When COVID-19 was introduced into the United States, my time at Duke University was cut short. I returned to my home in San Francisco, California. I captured images of my family, friends, and now empty city during the coronavirus pandemic. However, I sadly was unable to finalize my project in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

In Hillsborough, I had the opportunity to follow an investigative police officer, Clarissa Baker. Over the course of several months, I accompanied her and her colleagues on ride-alongs, trips to the shooting range, bite training, and everyday office duties. Not only does Investigator Baker defy the conventional image of a police officer, but also inspires future generations and residents of Hillsborough through her commitment to justice.
